Francophone Mobility Work Permit

The francophone mobility work permit allows people who speak conversational French and who have job offers from Canadian companies (outside Quebec) to come and work in Canada.

Canada has two official languages: French and English. However, provinces outside of Quebec are currently experiencing a shortage of French-speaking individuals. In response to this issue, the Canadian government has implemented measures to facilitate the immigration of francophone people.

To address this need, the Francophone Mobility Work Permit was introduced in 2016.

The current requirements, effective until June 2025, are as follows:

  • Obtain a job offer from a Canadian company in any skill level;
  • French knowledge in a moderate level. B1 level or CLB 5 in speaking and listening. Please note that writing and reading scores are not important. TCF or TEF tests are required to assess language proficiency for workers whose first language is not French. If a worker has any education in French (either high school or college or have completed programs in French) they do not need to take French test
